Democrats say F*ck You to Unemployed Americans.

March 13, 2009

I don’t apologize for the crude headline. There is no other way to say it.

I could have said, “Democrats in Congress, and Obama prefer to give 300,000 jobs to the criminals who crept into this country illegally than to honest hard working Americans and legal immigrants who play by the rules and need a job to feed their families.”

What am I talking about?

I just read Pat Buchanan’s piece at Townhall.

He writes about Congress (Specifically Harry Reid and Pelosi) taking out of the latest $789+++ Stimulus Bill a provision that would require the E-Verify requirement for construction jobs created with your tax dollars.

Nobody has to prove they are here legally when applying for a job on any of the new stimulated construction jobs.

Reputable sources say that at least 300,000 of the 2 million new jobs needed for the new construction will be filled with illegal aliens.

Let me put this another way. 300,000+ criminals will be rewarded with high paying jobs while 300,000+ honest citizens will be forced to eek out a living the best way they can.

Shouldn’t the criminals be having a harder time feeding their families than the honest law abiding people?

Just saying…

BTW. The Senate just voted this week to not renew the E-Verify program available for ANY new job. 12 to 20 Million illegals can rest easier.

p.s. I’m still looking for a full time job in Cleveland/Lorain Ohio area. Unfortunately, I’m a legal citizen.

Looking for a Great Employee in Cleveland OH. Area?

March 11, 2009

So where can a business find a dependable, steady employee that has no plans to move up and out?

An employee dedicated to the job at hand and that takes pride in his work?

Who will cost them less to hire, train and maintain?
The answer:

Older workers like Chris Price. Age 58. Elyria, Ohio.
Chris has lots of experience ranging from managing others to “get my hands dirty and get er done” work. Full job history and experience available upon request. (See contact info below.)

13 Reasons why hiring me can help you maintain a reliable, dedicated workforce and provide a significant cost savings for both the short and long term. (Liberally borrowed from Entrepreneur.com)

1. Dedicated workers produce higher quality work, which can result in a significant cost savings for you. Older workers often find others’ potentially costly mistakes regarding everything from misspelling of client names to pricing errors and accounting mistakes.

2. Punctuality seems to be a given for older workers. I look forward to going to work each day and arrive on time and be ready to work.

3. Honesty is common among older workers like me, whose values include personal integrity and a devotion to the truth.

4. Detail-oriented, focused and attentive workers add an intangible value that rubs off on all employees and can save your business thousands of dollars. One business owner I know once told me that one of his older workers saved his company more than $50,000 on one large mailing job. The 75-year-old clerical worker recognized that all the ZIP codes were off by one digit. Neither the owner’s mailing house nor his degreed and highly paid marketing manager had noticed it.

5. Older employees only have to be told once what to do.Good listeners make great employees because they’re easier to train.

6. Pride in a job well done has become an increasingly rare commodity among younger employees. Younger workers want to put in their time at work and leave, while older employees are more willingly to stay later to get a job done because of their sense of pride in the final product.

7. Organizational skills among older workers mean employers who hire them are less likely to be a part of this startling statistic: More than a million man hours are lost each year simply due to workplace disorganization.

8. Efficiency and the confidence to share their recommendations and ideas make older workers ideal employees. Their years of experience in the workplace give them a superior understanding of how jobs can be done more efficiently, which saves companies money. Their confidence, built up through the years, means they won’t hesitate to share their ideas with management.

9. Maturity comes from years of life and work experience and makes for workers who get less “rattled” when problems occur.

10. Setting an example for other employees is an intangible value many business owners appreciate. Older workers make excellent mentors and role models, which makes training other employees less difficult.

11. Communication skills–knowing when and how to communicate–evolve through years of experience. Older workers understand workplace politics and know how to diplomatically convey their ideas to the boss.

12. Reduced labor costs are a huge benefit when hiring older workers. Most already have insurance plans from prior employers or have an additional source of income and are willing to take a little less to get the job they want. They understand that working for a company can be about much more than just collecting a paycheck.

13. Chris has always gotten along well with other employees. He fits in and becomes one of the team.

To quote Stephen Bastien,

“Older workers’ unique skills and values–and the potential savings to your company in time and money–make hiring them a simple matter of rethinking the costs of high turnover in a more youthful workforce vs. the benefits of experience and mature standards older workers bring to the mix. You simply do not have the time or resources to deal with high employee turnover. The next time you need to make a hiring decision, you should seriously consider older workers: Their contribution to your company could positively impact your bottom line for years to come.”

Who Else Likes to be Right?

January 15, 2009

Do you like to be RIGHT?
Are mere mortals awed by your superlative intellect?
Do you know the RIGHT way to use i.e and e.g.?
Are you surrounded by socialists and other “progressives” and need to fend off their constant whining in your presence?

Now you can announce to the world, or at least your co-workers, how you feel.

Travel Mug. I like being RIGHT.

Travel Mug. I like being RIGHT.

All too often, you must deal with the poor folk who just can’t get a clue.

You can start them on the road to RIGHTNESS with little baby steps. A good start is sending them to this informative site on the RIGHT way to tie their shoes.

Here are some videos you can share with the more cognitively challenged you must deal with daily.

Of course it is only RIGHT that they pour you your thinking juice, so here is the RIGHT way to pour your beer.

You will want to reinforce their lessons with this snazzy STEIN.

When It Was Illegal To Criticize The President.

January 8, 2009

I’m reading “The Creation of the Media: Political Origins of Modern Communication” by Paul Starr.

It’s an interesting story and Mr. Starr gives the reader a true perspective of the media story.

I’m only about 100 pages in to it because I have to put it down frequently to reflect on the many thought provoking tid bits.

One fascinating bit covers the early days after the American Revolution.
The short version is that the Federalist were in power and there was a new political party that didn’t like what they were doing. (Democratic- Republican, led by Jefferson and Madison. Usually referred to as Republicans.)

The majority of the newspapers were overwhelmingly pro-Federalist. As Mr. Starr writes, they were “unabashedly in favor of rule by the rich and the wise”.

However there were a few papers printing the Republican views of the Federalist government as being elite aristocrats.

The Federalists figured the best way to silence the new party was to hammer down on the small papers and put the editors in jail.

They pushed a law through Congress making it a crime to “write, print, utter or publish… any false, scandalous and malicious writing or writings” against the Congress, or the President “with intent to defame”.

The Federalist had always held the position that the Constitution gave the government no power to regulate the press. Now they wanted to invent that power.

Here is the twist.
This portion of the new law was only to be in effect while Adams (Federalist, Mass.) was President.

And it did not cover the Vice President.

Why? The Veep was Jefferson, (Dem-Rep, Virginia.) Jefferson was part of the opposition. If attacking Jefferson was going to be a crime, then the Federalist editors would have ended up in jail.

Exit questions.
Does this sound a little bit like the Fairness Doctrine to you?
Isn’t this the type of thing that Ann Coulter talks about in her new book “Guilty: Liberal “Victims” and Their Assault on America?”

I’m just saying.
Comments are welcome. Voice your opinion while it is still legal to be critical of the powers that be. ;-)

Learning To Think Straight. More Wisdom from Dr.Williams

January 1, 2009

I am a huge fan of Dr. Walter E. Williams.

He serves on the faculty of George Mason University as John M. Olin Distinguished Professor Economics.
He has a way of explaining complex economic theories so that anyone can understand. Even me.

Dr. Williams has a short op-ed piece on Townhall.com that is worth reading and discussing with anyone who appreciates critical thinking.
He and I share a pet peeve about college and university faculty force feeding our nations impressionable young minds with all sorts of values and opinions unrelated to the course being taught. (Men bad, America bad, republicans bad, white people bad, capitalism bad, etc.)
Read the article when you have a chance. Here are a couple highlights.

“Learning how to think straight, as opposed to what values and opinions to hold, is the crucial part of education. Part of that learning is to be able to understand the distinction between subjective statements, for which there are no commonly accepted standards of proof, and positive statements for which there are.”

“There are a number of other pitfalls to straight thinking that I lecture on as introductory material before we begin to explore economic theory. I tell students that if they hear me say something subjective, without my having prefaced it with “in my opinion,” they are to raise their hand and tell me that they took my class to learn economics and not to be indoctrinated with my values. Personally, I want students to share my values that personal liberty, along with free markets, is morally superior to other forms of human organization. The most effective means to accomplish that goal is to give them the tools to be tough, rigorous, hard-minded thinkers and they will probably reach the same conclusions as I have.”

If you would like to sample more of Dr. Williams thoughts on economics and politics, visit his site at the University. Click Here.

Dr. Williams has a book out called “More Liberty Means Less Government: Our Founders Knew This Well.”

Anyone have any comments? Please share any examples of faculty trying to indoctrinate students to a particular opinion or value.

Quotes to think about.

December 29, 2008

Burt Prelutsky brings a bit of a smile with his social and political commentary. I read him at Townhall.com

Check out this weeks editorial here.

Lots of good quotes in todays editorial, like…
”among Mark Twain’s numerous sage observations: “If you don’t read the newspaper, you are uninformed. If you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed.” “No man’s life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session.” “The only difference between a tax man and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin.” “There is no distinctly Native American criminal class save Congress.” And, my personal favorite, “Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in.”
